The Federation

FederBio is a Federation of Associations of farmers and operators involved in all stages of organic and biodynamic agriculture of national importance and is a structured membership according to the various categories professional and non.

At the moment, the following sections members are active:

• farmers (n. 11 member organisations)
• processor and distributors (n. 5 member organisations)
• services providers (n. 5 member organisations)
• control bodies (n. 10 member organisations)
• cultural and ecological associations (n. 2 member organisations)
• consumer associations (n. 1 member organisation)

FederBio operates exclusively in the organic agricultural field and is recognized as Institutional representative within the Tavolo Agroalimentare instituted by the President of the Cabinet Ministry.

FederBio is a member of IFOAM, of EOCC the European organisation for authorized Certification of the sector, and member of ACCREDIA, the Italian organisation for Control Bodies accrediting. It operates both nationwide and internationally.

Mission

It is a no profit Association with the following social aims:

• Stimulate the reciprocal knowledge of adjacent organisations by coordinating enterprises and strengthening the operative ability for the benefit of the community
• Represent and defend, at a national and international level, the foundations of organic agriculture in Italy
• Propose regulations to law makers for the defence and development of the sector
• Promote and inform the consumer about organic agriculture
• Promote research, experimentation and the definition of common standards
• Promote a policy of appreciation in support of organic agriculture in verifying the correct application of common standards and of certification in harmony with the Italian and Community regulations with the adoption of a Autodisciplinary Code which binds the Associates.

What FederBio does:

• Institutional representative at Ministries, Regions and Authorities
• Coordination of activities linked to the application of regulations and procedures in force in agreement with the competent national Authorities
• Preparation of guidelines and standardization of documents regarding Control Bodies and consequent Certification
• Management of the Autodisciplinary Code of the Control and Certification Bodies
